RSHS Boys Lacrosse

Rockwood Summit Lacrosse Club (RSLC)  We are a club sport run by parent volunteers and supported through sponsorship, fundraising, and fees.  

PERSONAL EQUIPMENT:  Necessary for play:  cleats, stick, gloves, elbow pads, lacrosse shoulder pads, mouth guard, athletic cup, Summit helmet. Home and away uniforms are provided and returned to RSLC. (Please see the Registration Checklist under Site Links)

FEES:  Club fees pay for:  the Missouri Scholastic Lacrosse Assoc. (MSLA) team fees, field rentals, coach, referee and trainer salaries, player practice packs, uniforms, field maintenance supplies, practice/game balls, nets, field equipment.

Club fees are:

1.   $500.  There is a $100 discount for 2nd family member player.

2.   Each player must be a member of US Lacrosse for our team insurance.  This is done every year and must be current for each player.  Log onto www.uslacrosse.org and join or renew for a $35 fee.  Do this step 1st as our registration process will ask you for your uslax number.

3.   2 checks ($150, $150) made out to RSLC, one is the uniform deposit check and the other is a parent work duty check. Checks are destroyed at the end of the season if uniform is returned clean and without defect and the volunteer duty has been fulfilled.

Practices are held at Lower Buder Park in Valley Park weekdays from 4pm-6pm.

Our High School Coaching Staff

Coach Paul Lutz(Head Coach)- 

Coach Lutz started his coaching career in 1998 at Parkway Central. He was appointed the head coach of the freshman program that year. Two years later he moved up to the junior varsity squad and their head coach. In the fall of 2005 the board approached coach Lutz to take over the program. He moved into that roll for the 2006 season and continued thru the 2015 season. In 2016 Coach Lutz moved with his boys to Parkway West and continued coaching with that program.Coach Lutz's Lacrosse coaching career started when his two boys, both Central graduates, played. Coach Lutz has achieved numerous awards, letters and relationships throughout many years of working with the athletes within these programs. 98% of the boys who have played for coach Lutz have continued playing Lacrosse at the next level. Many boys have moved into high school and college coaching as well.
Coach Lutz has achieved the certificates for the Positive Coaching Alliance along with class and field Levels I, II and III accreditations for coaching. These educational programs are offered through the National organization of US Lacrosse. Coach Lutz has received Coach of the Year and the Assistant Coach of the Year awards through the MSLA.
In the fall of 2017 Coach Lutz was approached by the Summit Lacrosse Board to coach their program. In the early spring of 2018 he will step on the field with a new challenge in his coaching career. Coach Lutz is honored and proud to be asked to assist an established program in the Lacrosse community.

Coach Devin Mayer(Asst Coach)-
Devin is a senior at Missouri Baptist University and is studying health science. He has been playing lacrosse since his freshmen year of high school. Devin played a Rockhurst University his freshmen year and currently plays at Missouri Baptist University. Devin is in his last year at Missouri Baptist. He has helped coach at Samurai and has done lacrosse clinics in North Carolina and South Carolina. 

Coach Jon Chaffee(Asst Coach)-
Jon has been lacrosse for 8 years. Currently, Jon is an offensive midfielder at Missouri Baptist University. Jon is in his final year at Missouri Baptist University. Jon has been involved with and coached various lacrosse clinics since 2013.

Coach Garett McKelvie(Asst Coach)-
Garett has been in lacrosse for over 12 years, 9 years of those playing Box Lacrosse in is native home of Ontario, Canada. He comes to Summit from Missouri Baptist University. Garett is a Long Stick Midfielder, currently in his Junior year.  



Transportation

 Since practices and games are held immediately following school, players are responsible for their own transportation.  Informal carpools are established by the players during the first week of practices.  If anyone needs additional assistance, please contact a coach or board member.
